LAETITIA ======== This is an action arcade/adventure/platformgame for Spectrum 48K (without music)/128K(with AY music) made using AGDX (a modified version of Arcade Game Designer 4.7) and AGDMusicizer II. The main character - the payer - is Laetitia, a young witch who has to help her aunt witch to make a magic potion, needed to defeat the evil witch. Grynnet is a small village that was bewitched by a witch named Grizelda and placed at her service. Grizelda just did not spell Runella, an old sorceress, and Ordentur, the old sage of the village. Both lived in the furthest part of Grynnet and managed to hide. Runella was old and did not feel the strength to face Grizelda and her henchmen. However, she could count on her young niece Laetitia for this. Laetitia does not have the wisdom of her aunt, but she is a fearless and willful young witch. So, she did not hesitate to help. Called by her aunt, Laetitia flew to Grynnet. Knowing that the niece was not yet up to Grizelda, Runella consulted her old book of potions and found one that would substantially increase Laetitia's powers, so that she could defeat Grizelda. PLAYING THE GAME In this game, Laetitia can climb small solid steps without needing to jump. If the steps are not solid (you can walk through it), you can press the direction button and UP and Laetitia climbs that steps. Sometimes jump is not enough. To take a higher jump, press UP and JUMP keys simultaneously. Laetitia can fly on the surface but cannot do it inside the caves (except in certain places). She can cast spells that affect certain opponents, but not all of them. To QUIT the gameplay and return to Main Menu, in PAUSE mode, press the DOWN key. Due to the limitations of memory space, the game is divided into 4 parts. Laetitia starts with 3, 5, 7 or 9 lives. The player chooses it when the game starts: > Q for 3 lives > A for 5 lives > O for 7 lives > P for 9 lives > any other key, the player starts with 5 lives Losing the all lives means GAME OVER. CONTROLS The character can be moved using Keyboard, Kempston Joystick or Sinclair. Select the desired control scheme by pressing 1, 2 or 3 in the Menu. She will need the help of the old sage, so she has to find some objects to bring to him, too, such as: - his pan flute; - Fang's sword. PLAYING THE GAME This part has 29 playable screens. First, Laetitia has to collect 4 floris vitalis and bring it back to her aunt. Then she has to speak to the old sage for him to give her the key of the dragon's cave, where she can collect a dragon's tooth. The old sage asks her to help him find his pan flute. The flute is near a carnivorous plant. To get the flute, Laetitia has to use her magic spell to temporarily freeze the plant. She can do that to all carnivorous plants she finds to get access to some places. After the old sage gives her the dragon's cave key, Laetitia can now access and start exploring the cave in search of the dragon's tooth. To reach her goal, she has to use her magic against the dragon's head 4 times for temporarily stops his fire balls and took the tooth. If she has killed or leaves the screen, the hit count become aero and Laetitia has to start hitting dragon's head again. After that, she must explore the cave to find Fang's sword and bring it back to the sage. When she reaches aunt's house, she has to enter and give Runella the dragon's tooth. To reach and get the ancient claw, Laetitia must get the access door key first. But that's not enough. She must bring back Fang's sword to the old sage so he can give her the chest key where's ancient claw. But beware of the poisoned room... Laetitia will face several obstacles in her path: - The ones that only make her energy decrease, such as: > bats > pumpkins > ghosts > thorn plants > poison plants > sharp stones > smoke from the chimney > the top part of the trees (leaves and branches) - And the ones that kills her, such as: > carnivorous plants > spiders > glowing pumpkins (except the one with the master pumpkin) > master pumpkin When the energy is over (all the red hearts are empty), Laetitia loses a life. She will also find energy potions in her way to regain energy again. In the bottom of the game screen we can see: > The floris vitalis item with the number of flowers collected; > The witch hat with the number of lives; > The yellow pocket and the objects that Laetitia has with her; > The big red heart and the small red hearts that represents her energy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAETITIA (PART 2): THE CRYPT THE GAME In this part of the adventure, Laetitia has to collect and bring aunt's home some ingredients for the magic potion: - some leaves of hedera helix; - some wood larvas. She will need the help of the old sage, so she has to find some objects to bring to him, too, such as: - the four parts of the crystal key of Wizella's tomb; - the collar of Wizella. PLAYING THE GAME This part has 22 playable screens. First, Laetitia has to find some hedera helix (ivy plant). So, she has to speak to Ordentur to know where to find it. The old sage tells her she can find the plant inside Wizzela's tomb. But, to enter there, she has to find the 4 parts of the crystal key and bring them to him to be joined as the tomb's key. The old sage gives her the crypt's key. Inside the crypt, Laetitia as to search for the four parts of the crystal key. She has to enter some tombs too. For this, the young witch has to use alternately 2 bundles of keys, one for the tombs of the left and the other for the tombs of the right. With the four parts of the crystal key in her pocket, Laetitia has to meet Ordetur for him to join the parts and gave her the hole crystal key that opens Wizella's tomb. Now, she has to return to the crypt and enter Wizzela's tomb, seaching for the hedera helix and the collar of Wizella. Picked up that two things, Laetitia return to the surface and give Ordentur the collar. Then go to aunt's house and give her the hedera helix to join in the potion. After that, Laetitia has to find some wood larvae. Once again, Ordentur helps her. Laetitia will face several obstacles in her path: - The ones that only make her energy decrease, such as: > bats > pumpkins > ghosts > thorn plants > poison plants > smoke from the chimney > the top part of the trees (leaves and branches) - And the ones that kills her, such as: > carnivorous plants > skeletons > skulls and crossed bones > knights' heads that protects Wizella's tomb When the energy is over (all the red hearts are empty), Laetitia loses a life. She also can take one energy potion to regain energy again. In the bottom of the game screen we can see: > The crystal key item with the number of parts collected; > The witch hat with the number of lives; > The yellow pocket and the objects that Laetitia has with her; > The big red heart and the small red hearts that represents her energy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAETITIA (PART 3): THE PENTAGRAMS' CAVE THE GAME In this part of the adventure, Laetitia has to collect and bring aunt's home some ingredients for the magic potion: - 4 healing mushrooms; - A lux spider. She will need the help of the old sage, so she has to find Annabel's amulet to bring to him. PLAYING THE GAME This part has 27 playable screens. First, Laetitia has to find 4 healing mushrooms. So, she has to speak to Ordentur to know where to find it. The old sage tells her she can find the plant inside pentagrams' cave and gave her the key. Inside the cave, Laetitia has to search for the 4 mushrooms. She also has to find the keys to enter Annabel's statues rooms, where she has to search for Annabel's amulet that is inside one of the statues. So Laetitia has to use her magic in the statues until the amulet is revealed. With the 4 healing mushrooms and the amulet, Laetitia return to the surface. Then she has to give Ordentur the Annabel's amulet and go to aunt's house and give her the mushrooms. After that, Runella asks Laetitia to find the last ingredient: a lux spider. Once again, Ordentur tells her how and where to find a lux spider. Laetitia will face several obstacles in her path: - The ones that only make her energy decrease, such as:> bats > pumpkins > ghosts > thorn plants > poison plants > flying pentagrams (white and yellow ones) > sharpen arrows and spears > smoke from the chimney > the top part of the trees (leaves and branches) - And the ones that kills her, such as: > carnivorous plants > cave magician guardians > flying pentagrams (magenta ones) When the energy is over (all the red hearts are empty), Laetitia loses a life. She also can take one energy potion to regain energy again. In the bottom of the game screen we can see: > The healing mushrooms item with the number of mushrooms collected; > The witch hat with the number of lives; > The yellow pocket and the objects that Laetitia has with her; > The big red heart and the small red hearts that represents her energy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAETITIA (PART 4): FACING GRIZELDA This is the last part of the adventure. With 5 bottles of magic potion, Laetitia has to go to the landlord's residence, where Grizelda is standing, and defeat her. PLAYING THE GAME This part has 27 playable screens. First, she has to find a way to enter the residence, because it seems a fortress well guarded. Maybe she can get through that little watchtower she saw before. But first you have to find the key. The key of the watchtower is inside one of the peasants houses. So Laetitia has to pickpocket one of the walking peasant to get his/her house key, then search for the right house, enter and get the watchtower's door key. After entering the watchtower, Laetitia descends to the underground passage leading to the residence where Grizelda is. The door to the room where Grizelda is located is locked. Therefore, Laetitia has to search for the respective key. But the key is in one of the other compartments of the residence, whose door is also locked. And the key to that door is with one of the guards. Fortunately, this guard is distracted and Laetitia can sneak out the key without being captured. With the key of Grizelda's room in her possession, Laetitia is ready to face the usurping witch. Laetitia is out in duel with Grizelda, avoiding her magic balls and trying to hit the witch with her magic ... But only when Grizelda is not protected (when she changes colours). And careful with Grizelda's protection beam. Defeating Grizelda, Laetitia can pick up the dungeon key that the witch left and go release the landlord. Laetitia will face several obstacles in her path: - The ones that make her energy decrease, such as:> flying witches > spellbound peasants > the top part of the trees (leaves and branches) > sharpen arrows and spears > candle flames > Grizelda's magic spell > Grizelda's protection beam - And the residence guards that arrest Laetitia and take her to the dungeons. When the energy is over (all the red hearts are empty), Laetitia loses a life. She can recover that energy when she loses a life or in just one of several cauldrons that she find in her way. Or using 1 of the 5 bottles of magic potion that she carries and can use it anytime. But i suggest leave some of potion to face Grizelda. In the bottom of the game screen we can see: > The potion bottle with the number of potions Laetitia has left (starts with 5); > The witch hat with the number of lives; > The yellow pocket and the objects that Laetitia has with her; > The big red heart and the small red hearts that represents her energy. Losing the all lives means GAME OVER.
