THE GAME The forces of evil abound in old Changchun, and the Emperor needs a force of super-heroes to fight for good and keep the peace. Can you join the Kung Fu elite? You must master Budo! Budo is the way of the warrior, and it is a fight to the death. You know the basic moves, Chundan the low kick to the stomach, and Kekoni and Kebaneshi the deadly high kicks, and you know your punches, chops and parries... but will it be enough to beat one assailant, let alone an army?? As your assailant strikes out you must dodge or parry his kicks and blows as every hit weakens you. (As you weaken the 'clenched fist' moves through the colours of the spectrum until you die). If you keep your courage and your wits you can strike your opponent. It won't be easy, but it can be done - watch the Yin and Yang symbols disappear as your blows push your opponent closer to death! Suddenly the contest is over, but you can see the final moves and fatal blow in a genuine slow motion action replay! Go now and fight for your life! * Two can play each other! * Or one can take on the Machine Master! GAME CONTROLS ONE PLAYER TWO PLAYERS JOYSTICK PLAYER 1 PLAYER 2 MOVE LEFT SYMBOL CAPS SYMBOL LEFT SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT MOVE RIGHT SPACE Z SPACE RIGHT CHOP 1 1 7 FORWARD WHEN BLOCKED PUNCH 2 2 8 FIRE LOW KICK 3 3 9 UP HIGHKICK 4 4 0 DOWN The first indicators at the bottom of the screen show the number of lives remaining to you (initially 3). In addition the first will change colour as you receive blows and weaken, finally flashing when the next blow landing on you is likely to finish you off. The row of Yin and Yang symbols reduce as you weaken your opponent, each good blow landing removing one shield. When only one shield remains, the man will fall the next time you hit him. You do, however, score more points for a quick knock out by hitting your opponent when he is unguarded. Similarly, you can be felled before the fist starts to flash if you do not block or avoid blows aimed at you. As you progress through the game, by dispatching opponents, the scene will change and you will face stronger (and more!) opponents. (The first change comes after you have scored over 120 points). At the end of your three lives, you will be awarded a grade in the form of a belt of suitable colour, from white through to the coveted black belt.
