Chicago's 30 CHICAGO - city of gangsters and guns - where lone detective Eliot mounts his crusade against the lawless mob. From the dingy docks through the murky outskirts and into the sleazy city itself, then finally the illegal booze warehouse, Eliot sticks to a trail terrorised by mob hitmen - popping out of the sewers, hidden in the buildings or careering along in black Bugattis. Armed with machine gun, cache of grenades and customised chevrolet, now really is the chance to put your bullets where your mouth is ... or your mouth may rest forever. SCENARIO After the lively 20's, Chicago became a paradise for gangsters, traffickers and various lawless individuals. There were daily shootouts on every street corner, showdowns among rival gangs, and endless traffic in alcohol, which was prohibited by the Government. In the midst of all this, there were men who still believed it possible to institute law and order. One of these was Detective Elliot, a personage very popular in Chicago, feared and respected by the underworld. THE MISSION As Detective, Elliot, it is your mission to deal the underworld one of its heaviest blows in order to weaken the principal power structure in Chicago. The objective: You've to put an end to the alcohol trade and cut off the main source of income of Maffiosi organizations. It is not an easy task. The city is crawling with gangsters in Al Capone's employ, just waiting to take a shot at you at the earliest possible opportuinity. You'll be etirely alone as it's a secret operation for the Chicago Police and secrecy is the key to success. You've to cross the city until you get to the clandestine warehouse where illegal beverage traffic is conducted. THE FOUR STAGES To complete the game you have to cross the four clearly distinguished stages sequentially: the port, the suburbs, the city and the clandestine warehouse. THE ENEMY There are several types of enemy, each one acting in an extremely peculiar manner. It is important that you familiarize yourself with them before confronting them. Those who walk or come out of the sewers will always shoot at you in a stright line, however, from two heights, depending on whether they are standing or kneeling, to kill them you have to drop to the ground and shoot. The most dangerous of all are those at windows, behind crates and on rooftops connecting buildings. They're very difficult to find, they shoot down at you, diagonally or in a straight line, and can also throw grenades, which explode when they hit the ground, their destructive effect lasting a few seconds. THE CAR At the beginning of stages 2 and 3 (both in the city), you're in a car. This will prove decisive when completing the game, since it affords you rather good protection against enemy fire. As long as you are inside the car, their bullets can't hit you, but you have to be extremely careful, this has a limited duration and you can only increase it if you peer out the window and continue to shoot at them. The gangsters at the windows can throw grenades at you which will destroy the vehicle but will take no lives. The gangsters also have a car that appears in stages two and three. They can shoot at you from it. You can destroy it by using grenades. DETECTIVE ELLIOT Elliot is extremely mobile. He can move down, up, walk in two directions, jump and shoot while standing, in both directions, upward and in the two diagonals. He may use grenades to kill off the gangsters that appears at lower levels and to destroy the car. You will have to hit the car three times to destroy it. The best thing is to leave the grenade on the ground to coincide with the car's routine, since its impact lasts beyond the initial explosion. CONTROL KEYS Joystick or Keyboard can be used. The following keys can be used: Q - Up or Jump A - Down O - Left P - Right H - Pause Keep N (Fire) key, M (Spectrum +3) down and press any of the following keys, you can shoot in different directions: M-Q - Shoot Upward M-Q-P - Shoot Diagonal Right M-Q-D - Shoot Diagonal Left M-P - Shoot to the Right M-A - Shoot to the Left M-Q-A - Throw Grenade DEVELOPMENT TEAM PROGRAM J.
