CAPTAIN GOPHER ============== "After the accident, the captain of the geological spaceship will have to be forced to land on an alien planet to collect the materials necessary for repair of the ship. (Hint: down - fire - inventory. down - entrance to the portal/ship)" After the emergency landing the game starts with you standing in front of the spaceship. You are now stranded here until you find the necessary parts for repairing the spaceship. You need to find 2 x 20 parts, so in all you have to find 40 parts. If you press down + fire you will get a menu where you can see your status. You start with 500 health points, and this will decrease if you touch aliens or lava. You can not get your health restored and if it reaches 0 it is game over. You also have a jetpac with limited fuel supply. By pressing up you will jump, and if you keep pressing up you will turn on the jetpac and fly. You have unlimited ammo, but the jetpac will constantly run out of fuel, so do not use it more than necessary. By shooting aliens you can get fuel supplies with 10 units, which is not very much, so you have to shoot several aliens if you run out of fuel. As you proceed you will find places with new fuel supplies placed on the ground, these has much more units than them you get from shooting aliens, so important to collect these. The spare parts you are looking for are white and you have to find 20 round items and 20 brick items. There are also teleports several places, but to use these you will need to find access cards. There are six to find and on your menu screen you can see which you have collected. If you have collected some of them they will be on the bottom of the menu. There are these access cards to find: Alpha, Beta ,Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Lambda. If you try to use a teleport and do not have the necessary access card, you will get a message telling you what card to use. You don't need to shoot the aliens unless you are out of fuel, and you can make the aliens dissappear by running away from them so they "fall out" of the screen. When you turn around and go back the alien will be gone. If you are low on fuel and has to get new from the aliens then make sure you are a place with good room to manouvre, because the need a lot of shots before they die. This is very well made and you can see lots of bullets spreading around the screen when you shoot at them. If you come to a place with a big fuel supply placed on the ground and you can see that you have to fly high and use a lot of fuel, then it might also be a good idea to shoot some aliens to make sure you have enough fuel to reach the top. The game has a very fine structure. It is quite huge but the map has been made so it is possible to find the correct way. The 500 health points seems very fair and works much better than if you died immediately by touching enemies or lava. The access cards for the teleports is the key to open up for the whole game, so be sure to find and collect these. The graphics is quite good, especially on the surface. Your spaceship, the ground and the sky is looking splendid. The game also has a very impressive full color scrolling engine. When moving horizontal the game has a very smooth and fast scrolling, and for moving vertical the flip screen system is used. There is a fine detail in the animation of the Captain with him always looking over his shoulder to check the place. The controls are quick and responsive and you can move around at fast speed. At the start menu you can enable a nice in game AY soundtrack, and this can work on a 48k + AY interface. What I miss most in this game is the fuel supply to be displayed in one of the corners of the screen when playing, instead of having to enter the menu to see how much there is left, and off course an English version would also have been nice. A very good and nicely done exploration and maze game. The game was made by Victor Davydov (Dwa83) in 2020. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqxuYnXfx6A
